Outreach to Students’ Families
Engaging not only with students but also with their families builds strong ties and support systems inside and outside of school. Educators can establish family centers at schools and other community locations and provide transportation to and from school events. Schools can also focus on families by conducting adult education and parenting courses at local schools.
Extended Learning Opportunities
Extending learning for children gives them greater access to educational resources and provides extracurricular activity and incentive. Schools can institute full-day kindergarten and pre-kindergarten and also extend learning to before- and after-school programs as well as summer programs.
