Morgan State ranks fifth overall and currently leads in awarding the most engineering degrees. The numbers for the Baltimore university break down like this: 7 percent of all STEM degrees awarded from HBCUs and 30 percent of all engineering degrees come from Morgan State.

Clark Atlanta does not rank high in the major categories. However, the university is a major player in STEM categories like physical science and biological and biomedical science. The Atlanta-based university is sixth overall.
