It is unclear just how much money Microsoft has dedicated to diversity efforts, but the tech giant has hosted years of events aimed at boosting diversity in the tech field. This year marked the 24th annual Blacks at Microsoft Minority Student Day and unveiled a painful contradiction between the company’s message and the company’s staff. The same company that was constantly encouraging more Black youths to get into the tech field had a diversity report that unveiled less than 5 percent of its own staff was Black.
