Evans and some of his former colleagues at the Philadelphia Record started All-Negro Comics in July 1947. This was another first for Evans: He became the first Black president of a comics publishing house. The amazing thing about All-Negro Comics is that all of the main stars were Black. The characters, artists and writers were all Black.
