Awards
In her long, storied career, Butler won 13 writing and creative awards. Some of the most impressive awards she earned include the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Grant in 1995. She won multiple Locus awards for her books including for her novelette “Bloodchild” in 1984. Butler also won a Nebula award for her book “Parable of the Talents.” Her legacy will always be regarded as one of America’s most influential sci-fi writers transcending race and gender.
