Marie Daly (April 16, 1921–Oct. 28, 2003)
In 1947, Daly became the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. in chemistry from Columbia University. She was a college professor for the majority of her career, but she worked to get other African-American students to pursue medical and graduate school.
