Released in 2005, starring Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello and Ed Harris, this gritty crime drama featured Mortensen as a seemingly normal owner of a diner who kills two robbers. It was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay. That’s because it’s actually based on a graphic novel published in 1997.
