Summer began her acting career on the popular 1990s show A Different World and then went on to be the leading Black female voice actor of the past 20 years. She voiced Suzie Carmichael from Rugrats (1991-2004), Number 5 from Kids Next Door (2002-08), Max from Batman Beyond (1999-2001) and Cleo the poodle from Clifford the Big Red Dog (2000-03) among many other characters.



The British soul singer is new to the voice-acting industry, but she has a very important role on the Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe (2013). She plays Garnet, the leader of the Crystal Gems and the most powerful member of the team. She serves as a mentor to Steven as well.
