Many minority students may feel isolated at predominately white institutions. To many, there is a preconceived notion that predominately white institutions will provide better educational experiences for non-white students. In many cases, that is not true. Some students may want to have the company of their own but just can’t.
The answer may lie in historically Black colleges and universities. There are many HBCUs that provide a first-class education in STEM fields. Many people are not informed about the successful Black students at HBCUs pursuing STEM careers; so they never even consider attending.
