There are very few opportunities and doors being opened to people of different backgrounds. The best way to change that is to create mentorships and job-shadowing opportunities. This can be internal by pairing new employees with experienced employees or hiring managers with employees of different cultural or ethnic backgrounds and genders. This can also be external by providing college students with these opportunities.
Collect Good Data
Data collection is vital when it comes to seeing the good and the bad within an organization. Companies must focus on how candidates are attracted and recruited, how work is assigned, how performance is evaluated, how much employees are paid, how employees advance in the company and when they leave and how happy employees are. The process will determine what needs to be improved going forward.
