YESS scholars

Young Engineering and Science Scholars

The California Institute of Technology brings together underrepresented high school students for a three-week summer program that allows them to build on science and engineering skills. The program, known as YESS, takes a particular focus to reach out to students who have still managed to excel in school despite trying circumstances or underserved school districts. The program’s official website explains that YESS “aims to challenge students beyond the traditional high school classroom environment by providing first-hand exposure to research scientists and engineers as well as an introduction to the university science and engineering culture.”

The Tech Flex Scholars program is specifically for seniors enrolled in a Brooklyn high school. The program grants the students access to a “yearlong enrichment experience” filled with perks and special benefits. Throughout the entire year, the scholars have unique opportunities to learn about the technology industry, attend special presentations and workshops, visit tech companies and receive hands-on training in the field. The program will also give the scholars access to mentors and other networking opportunities.
