Elephants and rhinos in Africa are increasingly threatened by poaching as ivory and rhino horns become more desirable, but a new method using drones has proven effective in stopping the poachers in their tracks — from thousands of miles away.
Americans of all shades are not very good in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects.
In a report from Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries, “among the 34 members, the United States performed below average in mathematics in 2012 and is ranked 27th.” The United States does not focus on STEM careers as it once did in the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. Manufacturing and tech jobs are scarce even though Silicon Valley has many booming startups.
The report alludes to the dysfunction of K-12 learning in the United States. In regard to science and reading, the U.S. is average. In order for minorities to become interested in STEM careers, the U.S. will have to evaluate its educational system and determine if education can be a valuable tool to use to compete on a global stage.
So if you haven’t already heard, Fox finally released the full Fantastic Four trailer, and it’s pretty good. It has humor, drama, some action — an all-around good trailer. You’re not here for that though. You’re here for what we’re all here for, and that’s DOOM.
Now if you look closely, you’ll see glowing lines along his face. I say “face” because if this movie takes after the Ultimate Marvel Universe then that’s not a mask, it’s his actual skin. The Ultimate incarnation of Doom has a metallic hide, as his skin from “the accident” that also gives the Fantastic Four their powers. He also has weird-looking goat legs, so hopefully they leave that part out if they’re going the Ultimate route.
All in all Doom looks great in this trailer, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us. Hopefully, this movie is as Fantastic as it needs to be to really take the Fantastic Four in a new direction in the movieverse so we can forget all about Cloud Galactus. Oh yeah, I went there.
Scientists in China produce droplets of liquid metal that can change shape and move of their own accord, bringing researchers a step closer to creating a ”Terminator-style” shape-shifting robot. Matthew Stock reports.
